YBP Library Services, with corporate headquarters in Contoocook, New Hampshire, and Baker & Taylor, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, combined forces in 1999, naming YBP as the academic division of Baker & Taylor. Through this relationship, YBP is able to offer its library customers a wide range of services, incorporating the strengths and competencies of these two major library service providers.
Baker & Taylor has been serving the library community for 170 years. With state-of-the-art distribution facilities in Reno, Nevada; Commerce, Georgia; Momence, Illinois; and Bridgewater, New Jersey, Baker & Taylor's rapid turnaround time and high fulfillment rates have earned the company a reputation for responsiveness that a dedicated staff works hard to maintain. Baker & Taylor services include shelf-ready processing, book leasing, collection development assistance in the form of selection lists, online ordering, and standing order service for monographs published in series. Title Source™ II, a comprehensive, enriched title database containing tables of contents, full-text reviews, and jacket art is one of several valuable, cost-effective collection development tools for libraries of all sizes.
YBP Library Services, founded in 1971, began as a firm-order bookseller to libraries and, in 1974, moved toward providing approval and notification slip plan services to its academic customers. As a result of YBP's extensive publisher coverage, precise library profiles, and unique allocation methodology, YBP’s approval customer currently include many academic research libraries, as well as many smaller, highly focused special libraries.
YBP has continually improved and added to its list of services to libraries, including standing orders for monographs published in series, complete shelf-ready processing, opening day collection services, and ILS integration. GOBI, YBP's Internet-accessible title database, offers online ordering and comprehensive collection development assistance, along with complete library transaction history for duplication control and acquisitions management.
